MeshAR is the platform behind three kinds of augmented reality: an animated guide that answers questions on site, a showroom configurator that renders the product just configured, and step-by-step repair assistance on the real machine. The same three stages underneath — a different presentation on top.

The pipeline

Three stages, and only one of them is the same for everyone

Localization is genuinely shared. Ingest converges on geometry but not on meaning. Presentation barely converges at all — and that is the correct outcome, not a gap to close.

    Ingest

    A mesh from a 3D scan, or a CAD assembly. The geometry converges on one format; what does not converge is how much structure the source carries with it — and that is what decides which class can be built on top of it.

    Localization

    Anchoring the content into the real environment through ARCore. This is the one stage shared by all three classes, with a dedicated strategy for each: a tap on a surface, a physical marker, or an alignment onto the object itself.

    Presentation

    What the user actually sees: a character that speaks and points, a product with its finish swapped live, or a highlighted component with the next step of a procedure.

What the platform is running today

Content is classified by its nature, never by the customer. It is the first question worth asking about a new project: it determines the source you need, the anchoring strategy, and where the cost is going to sit.

Class A

Animated guide

A character present in the room that tells you where you are and answers what you ask. The conversational engine behind it is the one already in production on Lares, brought into AR.

Measured, not claimed

These numbers come from a phone in a garden, not from a datasheet

The acceptance thresholds were written down before the test, not after — otherwise whatever number comes out gets read as confirmation of what you hoped for. Seven runs on real hardware: indoors under artificial light, full sun, shade, dusk.

One developer, and software shipped since 1999

Lightweb.it has been my company since 1999. Banking systems first, then industrial automation, now augmented reality — and MeshAR sits exactly on the seam: it takes the CAD files of the second world and puts them where the third one needs them.
